It's not possible to look at a seals carbon and know it's a quality carbon. You can identify that it has been polished, but it's often hard for even a professional to tell a CNFJ grade carbon from a phenolic one. When you will be able to tell is when your seal fails. Soft carbons will wear quickly, reducing the spring compression as the face wears away. Bottom line, you will be servicing your pump seals faster than you should need to.

Quality Pumps seals are the work horse of the mechanical seal industry. Cheap ones make you wish you put in packing or paid a little extra.

Your old PS- part number is an "industry standard" and will have the same basic dimensions as our ASP- number.

This standard is followed by Flowserve, Pac-Seal, Redeseal, Utex, Anchor Packing, and other seal distributors in the United States.
